          Time: Sunday 28 November, 16:00-17:30

          Venue: 418, Main Building

Speaker: Prof. Jing Guoqing, Beijing Jiaotong University

          Introduction of the speaker

Guoqing Jing, School of Civil Engineering, Beijing Jiaotong University, is engaged in research on rail engineering structures and public works. He has presided over three National Natural Science Funds, one major instrumentation sub-project and six provincial and ministerial research funds. He has published 24 EI journal papers and 43 SCI papers as the first or corresponding author, and has been awarded 7 invention patents as the first applicant. He is the author of the books "Ballasted Railway Beds", "Transverse Resistance of Railway Beds" and "Railway Sleepers - Theory and Practice".

          Brief report content.

The traditional railway engineering maintenance is "4Ds" (Dangerous, Difficult, Dirty and Dull), the work is monotonous and repetitive, the test results are subjective and the test results take a long time to process manually. In recent years, inspection robots, geo-radar, LIDAR and synthetic aperture radar have been gradually adopted in railway public works operations and maintenance, combined with artificial intelligence technology for analysis, to reduce staff and increase efficiency and ensure railway transport safety. This report introduces the characteristics of public works operation and maintenance, the development technology trends and the application of the above products, and welcomes interested teachers and students to share.
